This piece was inspired from a Mongolian buddhist ritual called Tsam. The word Tsam means dance of the buddha. These dances are often performed by buddhist monks in a sacred manner. The masks worn in the ritual symbolize the presence of demons and deity.
Tsam #1 was chosen to be the cover of Goldcoast Creative 2015 Magazine. Gold Coast Creative Magazine celebrates the cultural growth of the Gold Coast and explores the strong bonds between the region’s creatives and the wider community.
Produced by Sanctuary Cove Publishing, the yearbook also showcases the artwork of the graduating students, Queensland College of Art (QCA) Gold Coast, Griffith University.
